BVL Research Launches New Clinical Trials in Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis in the Kansas City Area.
Liberty, MO- Dr. Christopher Bartalos and the team at BVL Clinical Research specialize in new study medications to treat Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) like Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis. Dr. Bartalos is a board-certified gastroenterologist with nearly 20 years’ experience in treating patients with IBD. BVL Research now has multiple options for study medications in both indications and is seeking new volunteers to participate in the studies.
“Patients who have been struggling to bring their symptoms under control with current FDA approved therapies can benefit from some of the newer medications being tested in clinical trials”, says Dr. Bartalos “People often do not know that the FDA only allows the study of a new medication if it attempts to improve on patient safety, effectiveness or how the medication is delivered into your system. This gives patients who volunteer for a trial access to the newest, most effective medications being developed.”
Most clinical trials at BVL Research are in Phase II or Phase III, which means that they are FDA approved as safe enough to try by people who are actively suffering with symptoms. Study staff also monitor if the medication continues to demonstrate safety, and what dose works most effectively. “The structure of a clinical trial is designed to allow a volunteer subject to try a study medication as safely as possible. Those additional visits to monitor patient health markers also create quality data for sponsors and researchers on how well the medication is working.” says Ted Arnett, Director of Operations.
BVL Research offers a research study’s medication and related care at no cost to volunteer subjects, which means no insurance is required to participate. Dr. Bartalos personally reviews the patient’s medical history to see what study would work best for their condition, and screens them himself. Many of the trials can sometimes last for years which allows patients to continue to receive the drug and, hopefully, continue to control their disease.
